Terrell Owens’ home in Lithonia is priced to move
You don’t have to be an NFL superstar to afford Terrell Owens’ suburban Atlanta home. Even though it was once featured on MTV’s Cribs, this six-bedroom house in Lithonia is priced to move at just $695,000.
That appears to be a fair amount less than what the house might be worth. According to Dekalb County real estate records, the total appraised value for the property in 2011 was $1,330,200. The home’s listing on Trulia had a price of $1,500,000. And, over on Zillow.com, the Zestimate was $1,274,900.
In fairness to T.O., it appears that other houses in the neighborhood also had steep price declines, including this one, which sold for $2 million in 2006 but is currently listed for $699,900.
What do you get for the money on Owens’ place? A lot, it turns out. For starters, there’s a full-size indoor basketball court. There’s also a pool with a Jacuzzi and a diving board. There’s a media room and a gym with a sauna. And, as seen in the video from MTV Cribs, there’s a sandy beach area that looks ripe for a volleyball game.
It’s probably safe to assume the sale of this suburban Atlanta home is part of Owens’ bid to corral his many financial problems. In an article published in last month’s GQ magazine, Owens said almost all of his money was gone despite the fact that he earned close to $80 million during his NFL career. Most of it was lost in bad business investments, multiple real estate buys and, more recently, court battles with the four mothers of his children.
The Lithonia house might be a deal for someone but buyers beware: the property taxes were more than $18,000 last year.
